ESR10: Episode One
Since I joined Warwick Electrochemistry & Interface Group, I have learnt a huge amount about the custom-made technique called Scanning Electrochemical Cell Microscopy (SECCM). I am now using SECCM to perform some oxygen evolution reaction (OER) experiments on gold. I can produce some electrochemical maps with different resolutions. From these maps I can visually know the different reaction activity in different grains and I can also get some information in the grain boundaries. My understanding of electrochemistry has changed vastly over the last few months and it is proving far more interesting than I had imagined. Over the coming years I am really looking forward to making good progress engineering materials and I hope that through my work I can help to answer or clarify some of the important unresolved issues in electrochemistry.
